I've stated my love for the North Loge, and that has not changed at all. Except for one thing: When the roof is open and there are NO clouds it's totally miserable!
Now I know that there's no point in having a roof that opens and never opening. And this is the only home game we play in October. And when they opened it at the Bills preseason game it was awesome! Of course, that game started at 8:00, not 1:00. And let me tell you, that makes a big difference!
So I guess what I want to know is, what are the criteria the team is using to determine whether to open the roof? I know if there's a chance of rain, that's a no-brainer, since there's no drainage. But what about the temp? Or even more than that, the cloud factor? If there had been clouds, it would have been warm but tolerable.
It was so hot that whole rows got up and left. Some came back later, but others did not. And the worst part was that even getting up to stand near the window was of no help at all. The sun baked that whole area and there was almost no breeze.
I ran a 5K on Saturday and wasn't even close to sweating as much as I did on Sunday. It soaked through my new $80 Peyton Manning jersey, my jeans (which I wore because I was pretty sure it would be too hot to have the roof open), my socks, everything. My sister wore my Colts hat, which shielded her eyes so she could at least see, but even with sun glasses, I had to hold my hand to my face to be able to even see the action. Unfortunately, it kind of took away some of my enthusiasm because I really thought I might be getting heat exhaustion. At least I was able to keep hydrated as much as possible and so I was okay. But I was physically exhausted by the time I got home.
So here is a tip for you: When the temperature is over 75 and very sunny, prepare for an open roof and hope for it to be closed, in particular if you're sitting on the north half of the stadium. We'll see what happens next month. If it's 65 and sunny, having the roof open will be awesome. But 85 and sunny, not so much.
I still love LOS though!

I love StubHub

Yeah, so I know they're not the official ticket reseller, but I've used theme since they were and I just continue to.
So last night, I ordered tickets for the Ravens game. Good price, a few bucks over face value, and in the north loge, section 452. This morning I had a voicemail form StubHub, asking me to call return the call regarding my order. I paniced! It wasn't possible that I'd gone over my credit limit, but I couldn't imagine what the problem could be. So I called back, worried.
The problem: the tickets I bought had already been sold. Okay. The rep told me the seller was making an offer of another pair, in another section, but the same price. The problem was Stub Hub had a pair listed in the same row as the seller was offering, but for $6.00 cheaper each. I told the rep, thanks but no thanks, I could get a better deal buying the other tickets, and I prefered section 401 anyway. So the guy looked in section 401. Bingo! Tickets for right at face value AND he gave me a $21.35 discount, which covers ALL the shipping and part of the commission. He didn't have to do any of that, but he did.
And that's why I'll continue to use StubHub

Not sure what to say

Okay, I'm not going to run down all the statistics, talk about "the call" or do any sort of Bob Kravitz-esque blog. If you watched the game, you know what happened, didn't happen, and/or SHOULD have happened. So instead, I'll give you my perspective of the game experience.
Negatives:
Concession line: I wasted almost the ENTIRE third quarter waiting in line for popcorn and Coke Zero. Yes, I could have given up, but after almost ten minutes, it became a matter of principle. Besides, I wanted another popcorn bucket to take home. :-)
AC: Man was it COLD! I don't know if it was anywhere else, but in 401, it was CHILLY!
Jag fans: They were there. I saw them. That was enough to make me mad.
No open roof: I understand why. Just love having that window open, that's all.
The final score: Enough said.
Positives:
Great seats!: I'm in love with section 401! Yes, it's not 113, and if I could get down there WITHOUT having to sell blood for 6 months, I'd be down there! But the north end zone is a GREAT, reasonably affordable section.
Great crowd: Didn't see many loud drunks, so that made me happy. LOVE being in a sea of blue and white!
LOS: Even if it IS jinxed (Which I now FIRMLY BELIEVE IT IS!), the building is awesome!
Noise level: It seemed as loud as RCA, if not louder, at least from my section.
The Team: I STILL love them! I STILL believe they're a great team! I think they just need to believe that THEMSELVES!
Overall: Looking forward to the next game I attend, which will hopefully be the Ravens game!

Not so cheap seats

At least not this time. Wow! Have the prices gone up! But having been in LOS for the Bills pre-season game, I know it's worth it! I hear a lot of complaints in the Indy Star about the stadium and its cost, but I think the building is absolutely gorgeous! I guess some people will find something to complain about no matter what.
BTW, I have non-cheap seats for the Jags game! Hope to see some of you there!
