My Memories (2 Ratings)

Posted 11-20-2009 by Coltskane

My TV memories are not as what it used to be or maybe it just never was!  As a child growing up, wait a minute I remember being a child but I don't remember growing up!  Maybe that will come in time.  Anyway it was a chore to get up and walk over to the TV to turn the channel but I was in shape (I'm still round or pear shaped) and was the first to be diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome!

First it was cartoons then it became sports then that horseshoe kicked me in the butt, yes it was a big target and still is but it led to a sea of memories.  It was the TD by The Horse that captured me or should I say corralled me.  Being young and naive (still am), the clothes line by Mad Dog Curtis and the play of the Mad Stork are still in my mind.

I don't want to remember our first SB as real men don't wear fur coats nor do they blow dry their hair!  We lost but have moved on.

Our second SB, the tipped ball controversy and the question - why did the MVP come from the losing team?  If he was the MVP, did he help his team lose?  We won so shouldn't one of our player receive the MVP?  The answer was supposedly the voting took place before the end of the game while the other team was ahead - the 'girls from Dallas!  Our secret weapon was that we had a long haired kicker!  My memory now fades on who called him a long haired kicker.  He also kicked funny - straight on and not a side winder as they called the soccer style kickers then.

Then goodness gracious why are those football players holding hands in the huddle!  That took a lot of fans by surprise!  It did me!  And they were the big mean LB's that started it.  C'mon memory was it Mr. May?

That brought us to the lean years think it was LB Bickett that said , "I wish I had some moon burns."  That was in reference to Monday Night Football which was saved for the better teams.  There was a stretch of time that the Colts did not play on Monday night.  Remember no espn no nfl network no nothing I don't think we had sports bars then.  Just bars fould smelling bars!  I survived and we moved forward.

Those were some of the memories that I hope will never leave me! Oh yes I remember sulking during the Steelers game, then jumping off the sofa when I saw Bettis had fumbled the ball was picked up by Harper.  I was sure he was going to the house.  When the game ended the remote slipped out of my hands and fell next to the tv set!

I'm sure Aaron Bailey had caught that Hail Mary pass in the end zone!  How can they deny him or us a TD, there was no instant replay!  Yes and Coach Billy B must have cheated because how can you stop EJ for no gain at the goal line?

It was my TV that gave me all my Colts memories that I'll never ever forget.  I'll also paraphase Coach Ryan and say I'm man enough to cry, but I didn't but came close twice.  The first one was the first SB that we lost and the second was the latest SB that we won.  With Coach Dungy and Peyton Manning standing on stage.  WOW!

Thank you for the memories, it was the Horse, Johnny U, Mad Dog, Louisiana Lightning, Mad Stork, the Smith Boys, Big Daddy, the Creature ahh the memories...........
