Colts at Wembley? A good idea, or short changing the loyal home fans?

I live in London and would love to see the colts play a game at the Wembley stadium, there's talk over here about us staging 2 regular season games next year and who knows the colts may be one of them.

Do you feel as fans that this would be a good thing as it spreads the international appeal and stature of the game, or do you feel that the league are selling out and taking support for granted?

I also support a premier league team West Ham United and wouldn't want to see them play home games, abroad.

Really love the manner in which the colts are playing this year, Manning is a general!

I live in the middle of Germany...so I would love to see the Colts in Wembley...would be much easier than travelling to Indianapolis for me of course!!!

Everything is global...so I don´t see such international appeal as a selling out...there are so much fans out there on our great planet who would really be thankful for seeing their favorite team live playing...and of course it brings people from different countries together enjoying sports...so I think it´s a good thing.

When it comes to soccer, I am a supporter of Chelsea FC...of course I am following our  german "1. Bundesliga" too, but love viewing the premiere league games...Both Chelsea and Colts are on top right now...so I am very happy...Wink

Another great question! This is really why I keep lurking lol I love seeing what others have to say, how much they love the Colts their rituals etc.

Being we only get the 16 games it would be hard to see our Boys go out of the country, I mean lets face it most of us can not afford to make that trip :P

Tennessee for some yes, England , not so much!! :P

That being said, why could it be more of a "Pro Bowl" type deal? I can see how they want to include the world with a sport we love, so I am truly torn. I would much rather have them play some games off season there, but of course wouldn't want them to get hurt ;)

Wouldn't it be interesting if other countries started to participate in the NFL?

I guess I sound like a politician, not answer the quesiton rofl!

Would I like our boys to leave the country on a regular basis NO, for an expedition game? Sure

Cool to see ppl in other parts of the world who share a love for the COLTS :)

wouldent bother me if they played there... i heared they were going to start playing games across seas and then put an NFL team there years down the road... not one already at a location meaning make a new team

LETS GO COLTS!

I DO NOT support the "international NFL games" AT ALL !!  The teams that play in these games have to forfeit a HOME GAME - which will negatively impact their home towns financially !!  I can't imagine that many of our season-ticket holders can afford to travel overseas to see their team play the regular compliment of home games !!  Super Angry

This is just another way that the owners want to use to "pad their pocketbooks" while NOT taking in to consideration their local fan base and/or their players !!  Participation in the "international series" creates a plethora of problems in game week practice scheduling - adds TONS of travel time to an already crowed schedule - AND - DEFINATELY forces the players into a "jet lag" situation !!  Super Angry

Sorry - absolutely NO SUPPORT for this ill-conceived idea from this Colts fan !!  Super Angry

you need to learn to express yourself and NOT hold back!! ROFL!!

You tell it how it is :P

I agree , thats why I thought MAYBE a game that doesn't effect the 16 we get!   But why risk injury too , yeah maybe they ought to start their own league LOL

I feel for fans overseas ... However I do not support any teams losing home games. And definitely not THIS team. But the NFL will do what they want. And as for expanding in London. The 5 hour time difference just for teams in the east is too much ... How about the west coast teams traveling. And then the players on the London team having to travel here and it being what? 7 o'clock A.M. for them .What a dumb Idea.

You know, living in America, of course if it's a home game that's taken away, I probably won't, but then again, there are a lot of fans of not just the Colts, but other NFL teams, example would be a lot of fans on this site, including you Batchy. In that case, I know a lot of people don't like the idea because "the NFL is an American sport" but we also need to recognize that there are plenty of NFL fans around the world, and not many of them can travel across the ocean to see their favorite teams, so I think it's a great thing that the NFL does, because it can give a chance to give fans a show over in different countries. I think it also spreads to love of the NFL around the world, and it might make it more liked.

Losing a home game is a bit brutal.

Glad it's different teams every year.

Still, I say YES!  There's too many Steeler Fans on your side of the pond.

For it to work in my opinion would be that the two teams playing would get their bye week the next week in order to recoup from all the travel time, etc.  Plus, if two teams play overseas, then they still get all 8 home games as a reward.  So, you'd have 8 home games, one overseas and 7 away games.

That way the hometown fans don't get cheated out of a home game, therefore keeping season ticket prices the same for getting 8 games at home.  Playing overseas is truly an away game for both teams, so don't make one of them sacrifice a home game to play there and get international exposure.

This is an NFL decision in order to expand fan base for the sport, so let them reward the teams they choose to send over there by not making them give up a home game in the process.

how about if it was the very first game of the year as it's on a thurs the teams would have plenty of time to cope with jet lag with 10 days off?
