It is a real chore trying to edit 64 years of life into something not too long or boring. For our purposes here, I will be as brief as possible. I am a conservative who strongly believes in God, Country and Family.
In my younger years, I played all kinds of sports. I played both ways on my high school football team in the South Suburban League in the Chicago land area where we were 2nd in the State and I was honorable mention for All-State. I played football at the college level as an OLB in the Ohio Athletic Conference (now the MAC). I played softball into my 40's in many leagues from class C to A. Scuba diving is also a passion of mine. Sports has always been a big part of my life.
I am a former Marine and a Viet Nam veteran. I have and will never regret having served this great country which has been so good to so many for so long. One of my concerns in today's society is the direction in which I seem to see this country going. Don't get me started here, lol. I am fairly conservative and strongly believe in our Constitution.
I have a degree in Business Administration. I have spent the majority of my life working in the construction and development industry; commercial, industrial and residential. I have worked for others in upper level management and have also owned my own small construction companies. I am currently on long term disability tho hope that sometime in the future I will be able to get back to work.
I am the father or stepfather of seven children who are currently spread all over the country. My wife and I are the proud grandparents of 14 and my oldest granddaughter has just made me a great grandfather. I am too young for this so I tell them not to speak a word of it. lol My wife and I also are blessed with the opportunity of raising our youngest granddaughter who at 3 is a handful, but delightful and runs us ragged, or is it keeping us young. lol
The biggest battle of my life has been being fought the last two years. I was diagnosed with cancer in January of 08. I have been treated with chemo and radiation. At the moment, it would appear that the cancer itself is gone. However, the after effects of the treatments has caused other problems that I am still fighting. I am considering beginning a cancer survivors blog/group here on mycolts.net. I know that any support we can provide to others is more than worth the effort. This not an appeal for sympathy, only for understanding. Any others who might read this bio and feel that such a group would be of benefit to themselves and others, please contact me and we will get it up and running.
Thanks to all who take the time and effort to read this.
