Good Morning everyone and "Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
I had one of the most wonderful weekends ever!!! We woke up Saturday morning, jumped in the truck and drove south. We found so many new places to hunt for artifacts. I've posted pics...check them out. **** Artifacts****
Incase you didn't know...Texas is the only state in the United States who can legally hunt for artifacts on private property and not have to turn them over to the state or archeologist. This is because Texas in the only state that can recede from the United States and become its on country, divided into 5 states.
Most people think that all the artifacts people are finding these days are from recent American Indians..Geronimo, etc...this is not true. Geronimo used steel points. Because Indians value their beliefs, customs and heritage so much...these Indians (Geronimo, etc.) learned how to knap, but never put this to use in every day life because of they used the steel tips instead.
Artifacts dating back to the pre-historic times have been found in Texas.
OK...enough history...
This coming weekend, March 22-23, my husband, Rudy and I are going on an Archeoligal Native American Dig! We are both very excited!!! This will be a first for both of us!! Wish us luck!!! There are no guarentees we wil find anything...but then again, they have been finding all sorts of stuff (knife points, arrowheads, pottery, etc) down there (South-West, TX).
We get to KEEP anything we find!!!! I'll keep you informed!! We will be going down there Friday, Dig on Saturday and Sunday and come back on Monday. So it'll be Tuesday before I can let ya'll know how we did.
Ya'll have a Wonderful week!!!
